Mike
Masters - Guitar, Vocals
Mike
was born on June 20, 1959 with music in his heart. His parents supplied
musical influences from everywhere - Motown to Rock 'n' Roll to Big
Band Swing. He picked up a guitar in 1964 after hearing The Beatles
on The Ed Sullivan Show, and then got serious in 1967 after being "Experienced" by
Jimi Hendrix. Other early influences include Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck,
and Peter Townshend.
Living in the mountains was eminent
after meeting Cathy in Crested Butte in 1994. They were married in
1999, and made the big move from the Midwest to Conifer, CO in June,
2000, where they now live with their daughter Megan, dog Shadow,
and cat Ringo.
His dreams finally came true when he
was lucky enough to find a band that was looking for a guitar player,
and joined the Lost Canyon Band in August, 2000.
Rich Jacobs - Keyboards,
Vocals
Rich
journeyed to Colorado from the East Coast in 1996 looking for the
good life. Growing up in a musical home in Maryland, he was destined
to carry on the tradition of music that had spanned many generations.
Trumpet was the instrument of choice until it took a back seat to
the keyboard at age 19. His interest in piano actually began as an
interest in synthesizers. The son of a true "Irish Tenor", Rich was
heavily exposed to his father's singing influence, but chose a very
different path - Rock. You can also catch him sitting in with various
bands and acoustic players as a backup vocalist and harmonica player
around the region.
Rich
played in a "college rock" band
at West Virginia University, where he earned a degree in Mass Media
Communications in 1991. After working for Black Entertainment Television
in Washington, D.C. for 5 years, Rich decided to head to the Denver
area where he could enjoy motorcycling the incredible roads, hiking
the trails, and skiing the killer slopes of the Rockies. Conifer,
CO has been his home since 1998, where he lives with his dog CÈili.
Among his production talents are the
duties of producer, editor, shooter, and soundman for his Video Production
company, Jacobs Productions.
Eric Wallace - Drums,
Vocals
Eric
grew up in Sacramento, and was introduced to music at age 7 by his
mother, a concert pianist. He actually started out playing the piano,
but at age 8 decided the drums were more fun, and made the switch.
Eric continued to play the drums throughout his teen years, and went
on to major in music in college, at Consumnes River College in Sacramento,
CA.
Eric's professional career
began in the late 60's on the west coast, where he spent six years
with various bands. During this period, Eric opened for such notable
acts as Bob Marley, Journey and Jefferson Airplane.
By 1985, Eric tired of
the California music scene, so he packed up his bags and moved to
Memphis, TN. His music credentials continued to build, as he played
with Bo Diddley and Joe Walsh during the late 80's.
Now we're up to the 90's,
which brings Eric to the front range of Colorado. He played with
the Red Rock Roosters for several years, cut a CD with them, and
moved on to form The Lost Canyon Band with bassist Tom Wilson in
1999.
Music runs even richer
in his life these days, as Eric's wife, Cindy, is also a musician
and, as well, she handles the booking for Lost Canyon Band.
Steve Hartman - Bass,
Vocals
I
was born a middle class white child in Seattle , WA in 1962. At the
age of five, while living in St. Louis , MO , I wished I could play
trumpet like Louis Armstrong. After having moved from the Chicago
area to Denver in 1976, I had become a virtuoso of the mouth harp
and the bongos. I never had a chance to play a real instrument until
age 16 when I decided that a football career was unlikely to be lucrative
for me. I chose the bass because I thought that it would be much
easier to find gigs and, also I didn't have to keep track of too
many strings. I also discovered that the skinny little wires on guitars
hurt my fingers. Over the years I have made many records that few
people have heard and played many shows that few people have seen.
I've been reviewed in several newspapers that no one has read and
received awards that nobody noticed. I am enjoying playing with the
LCB. It's great to play with peeps who can make all the right noises
with their fingers and throats. It is a lot of fun to cover all the
tunes I loved to hear as a teenager.
